My latest overseas holiday tour in April 2018 was in Malaysia, Australia and New-Zealand with my family and friends. I used the Google Map at every moment to find unknown travel path by walk or through public transport with exact route and time and I was very much excited to explore the power of the Map. Every day I used the map and added various information to upgrade the map.
My latest tour was in Tezpur via Gawhati of Assam state of India and tried to follow the same technique of Google map to explore new areas. In a fine morning in May 2019, I want to visit the famous tourist spot Agnigarh from my hotel near Kamrupia Namghar by walk. I used the Google map to find the walking route using my android phone. Map advised me the shortest path through Tezpur Jail road. As per the map I went there and found that the Jail road is not accessible as a public road because this road is a private road only for jail. So I came back and use the road to go to Southern end of Tezpur Central Jail road through Tezpur Head post office. I think this information will be very helpful for the users of Google map and it should be modified. Already submitted modification but showing “Not Applied”.
Another incident:
Next day I went to Kamakshya Temple, Nilachal, Guwahati city of Assam at 9 pm from Tezpur by car. I booked the hotel OYO Flagship 15894 Kamakshya Dham near the temple beside another hotel OYO 5638 OM Regency (As per the google map). I reached there and found the hotel OYO OM Regency but can’t found the hotel OYO Flagship which one I booked. As per google map, the car stopped at the road end of the hilltop. It was raining at that time and a local person told the driver that there is only one OYO hotel in Kamakshya Dham. Then we went back and saw that both the hotels are in the same building which is posted in the wrong separate location of google map. Already I wested one hour time to find the correct location. Then I found that the main reception desk of both the hotel on the ground floor of this seven storied building. The ground floor is accessible from Kamakhya Mandir Road, far below the Kamakshya temple where the signboard of OYO Flagship hotel is there. I entered from the top of the hotel beside the Kamakshya Higher Secondary School. I tried to modify the map with pictures as per my knowledge but it is still pending. This type of misleading information may harass many people or drivers who are now fully dependent on Google Map.
