April 14, 2020 @ 19:00 (IST)
Many of us might have heard about Baisakhi. During my virtual meetup, planned on April 14th Tuesday, 19.00 to 20.00 ) I want to tell you all about how Sikhs celebrate Vaisakhi (Baisakhi) & how Khalsa Panth was established. We all will be Happy to hear what others can tell us about their New Year. This marks the Sikh New Year and commemorates the formation of Khalsa Panth, under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699, which also is a spring harvest festival for the Sikhs. Bengali New Year, “Pohela Boishakh” is the first day in the Bengali calendar. Mughal Emperor Akbar introduced the Bengali calendar in 1556 (Gregorian calendar). Tamil people celebrate Puthandu, (also called Puthuvarusham), as the traditional “Tamil/Hindu New Year” on 14thApril. Vishu, also known as the Malyalam New Year (in Kerala) and also some adjoining parts of Tamil Nadu, is celebrated on April 14th, I request you all to get together to celebrate at least on a Virtual Meetup, under this lockdown condition. Eagerly waiting to see you all, dear global LGs… See you soon @ErmesT @Mashasps @TravellerG @Shrut19 . I would request you to attend the meet up.
