Festivals are occasions for celebrating icons, people who’ve played a pivotal role in the growth and harmony of a community, its religion and culture in particular, all while promoting secular and noble principles for the upliftment of the society at large.
Festivals often serve to fulfill a specific purpose. We’ve all read in our history books that Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak organised Ganesh Chaturthi on a mass societal scale and made it a community affair, to mobilize the youth and inspire them to revolt against the oppression of the British, a noble and essential cause of the day. Although, the festival was for a specific community only, it played an instrumental role in galvanising its members, inspiring them with a strong sense of identity and belonging, eventually empowering them to achieve what seemed impossible. The youngsters of Mumbai and Maharashtra in particular, were motivated to fight the imperialism of the British, all through the prism of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Festivals offer a sense of belonging for religious, social or geographical groups contributing to group cohesiveness and progress.
Festivals also focuses on cultural and ethnic topics which seek to inform community members of their roots, traditions, and the involvement of elders whose stories and experiences are valuable tools to be learnt from and utilized by the younger generation.
And today, we all can sense that there’s a dire need to once again mobilize the youth, so they can be channelized and directed down the right path of Building India Upon Values. And therefore we’re proud to announce that we’ll be organizing a mega festival for youth, UDGAAR.
UDGAAR is aimed at instilling the right essential values in our youngsters, and enabling them to truly celebrate the miracle of life, where they can make the best of their time and energy – living for the benefit of others and themselves. We hope to make it a platform where great minds, noble thinkers, humanitarians, historians, leaders and spiritualists – all assemble together, so they may share ideas and brainstorm the essential values that need to be adopted to shape the progress of civilization on the whole.
UDGAAR is designed to be a platform to nurture the goodness within people, and help them bring that forth – so it is utilized for the benefit of society and the planet, both gradually becoming ever more stressed and burdened at present.
A Value-Awareness-Campaign aligned to the initiative of the Government of India and the vision of our Honorable Prime Minister – UDGAAR promises to make a splash, and make jolly the lives of all those in distress and need.
