@TravellerG sir,
Thanks a lot for your nice comments and for the complements to my photos. Yes, Barisal is really very beautiful. There are a lot canals and rivers here. I will share some beautiful videos of Barisal in the future. Please see clarifications below for your doubts:
- Is this an overnight travel?
Yes, most of the launches start around 6 to 9 pm and reach to their destination as early as 5 t0 6 am . They have dinning facilities inside and they serve foods to the cabins.
Corridor of the launch that I traveled by.
- Are there so many travelers every day?
Yes, once upon a time launch was the main vehicle to travel to the southern parts of Bangladesh. But, in last decades hundreds of kms, of roads and bridges have been made to connect the south Bengal by road. Recently, last year, Bangladesh has opened its largest (6km long) bridge over the mighty river Padma. This bridge has connected the south Bengal to the capital directly. As a result, a lot of buses have started to run directly from Barisal to Dhaka round the clock and take only 3-4 hours. Ferries are the direct victims of those buses. Number passengers have been reduced drastically. And they are now struggling to survive. Many of the launces have been stopped their operation already.
- IS the boat made of wooden or metal structure?
No, they are made of metal.
I hope your doubts are clear now. If you have anymore question, please feel free to let me know. Regards.
Hello @MortenCopenhagen ,
