Ferrari 🏎️ One of the most expensive cars of all time

During my return journey from London to Calcutta I had a 12 hr lay over in Qatar, Doha. I spoke to airport officials for a short Qatar city ride. They allowed me a transit visa and I entered the city in Qatar. Qatar is a beautiful country. 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in Qatar. The weather was very hot though we had fully Air conditioned bus ride. The 2 hr bus ride was conducted by Qatar Airways.

After seeing an awesome artificial island namely The Pearl Qatar (will write in a different post) we went to Ferrari Show room - Alfardan Sports.

It was a fantastic sports show room. I saw a few expensive Ferrari models, out of which some car models are available for display, where visitors can take photograph. The prices are very expensive. In Indian currency the car price starts at Rs 3.50 crore INR.

Have you experienced any Formula one Car museum/showroom? Share your story with me.

Hey @DrShaunak ,

Thank you for sharing your photos. I also want to visit Quatar one day so I was glad when I saw your post and learned more about the city. How long did you stay there? Did you visit any places that are popular among tourists?

This year I went to Abu Dhabi where I had the chance to visit Ferrari World. It was a new experience for me but I didn’t get into any of the cars. Perhaps next time. Have you been there or anywhere in the United Arab Emirates?

P.S. I relabeled your post to Travel because your post is about your trip to Quatar.

Hi @MoniDi Thanks for your reply. I am a Formula One fan.

My trip to Qatar was very short , just for few hrs. Actually I was travelling from London to Calcutta, India and had a long 10 hr stop over at Qatar Airport. I saw a city ride banner and kiosk in Qatar airport and I went for a query, an official helped me to take a city bus ride. The immigration was very smooth.

The bus ride lasted for almost 2 hrs and 30 mins. Besides visiting the Ferrari show room a mosque namely Katara Mosque, a local market Souq Waqif, AI Corniche Harbour and an awesome artificial island The Pearl Qatar

I saw a series of high rise buildings from Pearl Qatar and it remembers me of New York skyline. Also the bus journey via seaside is very similar with Las Vegas BLVD trip, where I visited in 2017. I will share some photos in a separate posts regarding my Qatar trip soon.

Lastly I must say Hamad International Airport, Qatar is one of the beautiful airport I have ever visited.

@955HIRO Thank you. I used Google translate to read your reply.

The car photo you posted here is nice. I heard about your country from my maternal uncle, who recently visited Japan. I will seek info from you when I visit Japan.

@KarenVChin I remember last time when I was in San Francisco I spotted a red Ferrari. I think you also spotted such/similar cars in streets of California. How is our experience?

@DrShaunak , looks like you were having a great time at the Ferrari dealership!

Yes, it is common to see a Ferrari ever so often, especially on the weekends, around town. Rarer are Lamborghinis. But I did see one parked in Downtown San Mateo with a baby car seat in the passenger side (2 seater high-performance machine) years ago and had to post it on my Instagram because it made me laugh.

Common now are Maseratis (did you know they now come in SUV?), Teslas in all models - they are everywhere literally. Both are used as commuter cars if you can believe it. The other SUV that I do see around town is the Mercedes G Class SUV, usually used as a family car with a parent driving and a car seat in the back.

Personally, I don’t drive any of these or go to dedicated car shows. I am not a “car aficionado.” But during the summer months, car clubs do have events to show off their classic cars/roadsters to the public that the club members painstakingly restore, such as Ford Mustangs, Porsches, American “muscle cars,” 1910s - 1960s cars, that I have attended as part of city summer festivals and walked around them – it is amazing to see a classic, restored automobile. It is a thing of beauty.

What do you see in your city?

Cheers,

Karen

@KarenVChin Thank you for your detail reply. From your writing, I know a lot about cars in San Francisco today.

Here in Kolkata SUVs are common now a days, mainly Hundai and Tata build SUV’s is seen on the roads. About luxury/sports cars the company showrooms are limited. Only Mercedes and Porsche showroom available in the city.

Last time when I visited Coit Tower in 2018 I toured @KimberlyAnnG 's car for a while, I didn’t remember exactly what the car model was, but I liked the car, especially the dashboard display system (where I saw pictures of the outside street for parking).

@DrShaunak you rode in my BMW 750i model. Beautiful car but a V8 engine uses a lot of gas! I traded her last year for a more gas efficient Hybrid.

When I was in Tokyo in March this year, @YasumiKikuchi took me to Ginza to see Nissan Crossing. I think I fell in love with this beautiful concept car. It certainly makes my heart beat faster! This is the Nissan 2020 Vision Gran Turismo.

Thank you for sharing your adventure in Qatar and the beautiful Ferraris.
