You may think that Kyoto is only the place where you feel the authentic atmosphere with old buildings. However, there are some spots where still remain the old and nice architectures and you feel “Japan”.
Higashi Chayamachi District in Kanazawa is one of the places. It has some Japanese-style cafes where you can find good match sweets/tea and barley tea as well. On weekends, it may be crowded as you can imagine but there are less Kyoto which is good.
Also, you may see some girls in Kimono (Japanese traditional clothes), walking around this area. I don’t think that you see maiko or geisha here that you can see in Kyoto though. It’s one of the nice spots to visit in Japan
