Feeling at home in a strange city

Have you ever felt at home in a city which was not your own? I have. Usually that is because the place I am travelling to shares some familiarity with my hometown. It also has happened when I have done a ton of research on a specific area where I am travelling to. If I am going somewhere unfamiliar, I like putting the address into Google street view and looking at the surroundings so that I know what to look out for when I am going to that area. But it is only with the help of Google ratings and reviews from local guides that helps me decide what new restaurant to try in a new city. hope that by rating local restaurants and cafes around my hometown, it helps others who may be travelling to Montreal. Coffee shops are one of my favorite things to rate, as are restaurants with flexibility to accommodate dietary restrictions.
I am a teacher in Montreal in a school with a very diverse population. Many of my students are new immigrants to Canada. Besides teaching them how be ready for the job market, I also hope to help guide them towards new experiences in Montreal and help them feel comfortable in their new home. By posting to Google guides, I enjoy rating the smaller, local, family run businesses to help promote local businesses and our every growing diverse cultures. I think each and every culture can feel at home in Montreal. We are so diverse and open to any different culture, I truly feel like there is no city like Montreal. I really feel that it has a little piece of every city inside of it.
