Dear Google Maps Team,
I am a long-time user of Google Maps, relying on your service daily for route planning, commuting, and travel. As a long-time user, I have come to rely on Google Maps as an essential daily tool for both my personal and professional life.
I would like to suggest considering the development of an official standalone Google Maps desktop application for Windows and macOS.
Why a desktop app would benefit users:
Offline Maps on PC: The ability to download maps for offline use on a laptop would be extremely helpful during trips, in areas with poor internet connectivity, or for field work.
Performance & Battery Efficiency: Running Google Maps in a web browser often consumes significant RAM and drains laptop batteries much faster than a well-optimized native desktop application would.
Enhanced User Experience: Instant launching from the taskbar or desktop, native OS notifications, and smoother hardware-accelerated map rendering would greatly improve overall usability.
Deeper OS Integration: Seamless location sharing, system search integration, and sync with desktop calendar apps.
I believe that a dedicated desktop application would make the Google ecosystem even more convenient and unified for PC and laptop users.
Thank you for your hard work and continuous improvement of the service.
Best regards,
Archie Clark
