Today I want to talk about a very common and essential local service business that is completely missing from the Google Maps category list. I am talking about “Toner Refill Services” (Laser Printer Cartridge Refilling).
In India and many developing markets, people rarely buy a new, expensive printer cartridge every time the ink finishes. Instead, they go to a local shop to get their existing toner cartridge refilled with ink powder at a fraction of the cost. It is a massive local business eco-system!
The Current Problem on Maps:
Right now, when we want to add or search for a dedicated toner refilling shop, there is no direct category. We are forced to choose between:
Printer Repair Service (But they only refill toners, they don’t fix broken printers!)
Toner Cartridge Supplier (This sounds like a wholesale shop that sells new products, not a service provider.)
Computer Support and Services (Too broad, doesn’t specify printer ink.)
Because of this gap, local customers struggle to find a nearby refilling shop, and these small micro-entrepreneurs lose out on direct local search traffic. Plus, toner refilling is a great way of Electronics Recycling & Sustainability, so it deserves a clear spot on the map!
My Suggestion to the Google Maps Team:
Please introduce a specific category or sub-category like:
Toner Refill Service or Printer Ink & Toner Refilling
This small change will help lakhs of small shopkeepers globally and make the map highly accurate for daily office and student needs.
