As a person who has to travel to different places often, Google Maps has been a digital boon for me.
However, sometimes there is misleading information as business-owners forget to update on Google Maps when they relocate or change their numbers. Or they may not have their place added to Maps altogether, which creates even more difficulty in finding the place or even knowing if it still exists. That can be a difficult spot to be in — when you land up in a locked, abandoned building where was once a small, lively cafe that sold the best coffee in town, at an affordable price!
This happened to me in August last year, when I went to my favorite place to get coffee after being sick for long, only to find out that it had shut down a month prior. And this place didn’t even exist in Google Maps to follow along.
So, I love checking facts and correcting misleading information. Whenever I go to a new place, I check Maps to make sure that it exists there as well, if not, I add it. I want to never let what happened to me happen to anyone as far as I can help.
Come on, getting to see a huge lock on your favorite cafe instead of that chilled, cream coffee is pretty sad, don’t you think?
