Fast and Furious: F1 Grand Prix in Montreal, Canada

F1 (Formula One), one of the most exciting games in the world. I’ve always wanted to see it. I once had a chance in 2015 when I was in France. That year, F1 Monaco Grand Prix was overlapped with the Film Festival of Cannes, which was great news but at the same time, bad news. The accommodation and transportation were so expensive that my friends and I couldn’t afford to go.

Fortunately, I had another chance. The F1 Canadian Grand Prix is annually held in Montreal. How could I miss it again? Of course, I wouldn’t. This time, no need to worry about transportation nor accommodation (cuz I lived in Montreal then) but only the ticket. We all know that F1 tickets have many different sets and are quite expensive, even the cheapest 1-day ticket for the final takes 99 Canadian dollars. We were super lucky that F1 Canadian Grand Prix was having their 50th anniversary in 2017 so they had a one-day special sale for 2018’s game, and I got the ticket for only 20 Canadian dollars!!

During the F1 season, Montreal is full of tourists and fancy cars. I’ve never seen so many expensive cars in one place. (Well, Monaco surely have a higher density but the country is pretty small so the total number should be less.) Many luxurious car brands have their car showcases in downtown too.

The final was on Sunday, and metro was full of people going to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the sports venue. It did take some time for my friend and me to get to the place (and take much more time for us to get out of the place after the game ended).

I am not a car expert nor a racing game enthusiast. Everything in the game was so new to me. What I did was to have fun and enjoy the atmosphere. Oh! And I should’ve brought a pair of earplug because the engine sounds were superrrrrrrrrrr loud. It was indeed a special and great experience!!

Quite a Wow event! I am sorry to hear of the Cannes match but the excitement of hearing the sound and the adrenaline of the race can hardly be compared with the movie festival.

What was the best moment you will always remember about the race?

Hi @FlameFox , sorry I just saw your comment.

Actually, I visited Cannes and Monaco about a week after the film festival and F1, so I still felt some vibes left in the sunlight and breeze ;).

For Canada F1 Grand Prix, one thing did impress me a lot, but it’s not really the best moment because it was dangerous. I remembered that as the race just began, a racing car crashed. It was pretty scary. Fortunately, the driver is safe, just that he lost the game in the first 10 minutes, and from the screen, we could tell that he and his team were super frustrated and upset.

That’s perfectly fine, @ChanneLing . I get you. It’s hard for me to catch up with the conversations I am participating in too. It’s best to require and provide good quality information on LGConnect, so working on our posts actually takes time

Thought that there may be adrenaline offered to the public but didn’t think it will be that much. Hearing of the crash, I am amazed by the team spirit demonstrated on location. Must have been hard for the participant indeed. Also, engineering the vehicle to keep drivers is awesome! Did you see organizers handling the situation in a quick manner as well?

Hi @FlameFox , thank you!

For the vehicle engineering teams, I didn’t see them working in person but only on the screens which were sat up in the circuit (since the ticket I bought is the cheapest one so not the best view lol).
