Fan Palm Tree-Washingtonia Palms

“Fan Palm tree” are usually cultivated as ornamental trees and their common name is “Californian Fan Palm”. These trees comes from the family of “Arecaceae” and are native to USA and Mexico. They are popularly used as landscaping ornamental. The DTV science park in the Khobar city is home to many of these palm trees (~more than 200). The fan palm trees are uniformly spread in the science park covering an area of 5 km2. The trunk of the tree is quite thick and long and grows rapidly if sufficient water is provided. Because of its fan-shaped long bushy type of leaves it is known by the name “Fan palm tree”. The tree provides shade, food and shelter to the birds and for us it provides the essential clean air, improves our mental health and enhances the beauty to the science park. These trees possess resilient characteristics and can survive in both extreme hot and cold conditions. The fruit of this palm tree when matures turns to brown color and is usually eaten by birds and insects.

Hello, @fasi6083

Interesting! I find these trees so beautiful. I had no idea that they were also strong to the cold! I only have ever seen them in warm places like California.
Thank you for sharing!

The Fan Palm indeed looks beautiful with its symmetry and spread, together with its resilience and fruit-bearing capacity, no doubt it is the choice of palm tree for ornamental street decoration.

Captured on a clear sunny day, all are nice picture @fasi6083 :+1:
