Hi community! I was recently approached with a very curious question and since I don’t have the answer, I come to my personal source of Maps wisdom: Local Guides Connect!
There’s a boutique interior design studio / business in my city and the owner knows all the clients. A few days after getting the Maps location code and setting their Google My Business account for their not yet opened office space, an unknown individual gave them 3 stars and disappeared.
They wrote a message to him, asking why he gave that rating and if he ever contacted them anyhow and this Local Guide never replied.
They contacted me to know what can they do, when they are absolutely sure he is one of those giving rates without visiting the place and getting points because of it.
I told them to report the case, and I did it myself, and at least my report ended up being tagged under “hate”.
How does one proceed?!?!?!?! HELP!
What’s the idea?!
Because in the era of fake news, we also have fake ranks…
Google Maps should have a “fake review” option.
There should be an easy way for both businesses and Local Guides alike can can report those ranks and reviews they consider to be fake.
Say for example someone talks about the great meat in a bakery, or about adult topics in a children’s place… I am sure that this is happening to a lot of people, and we don’t hear about it because they don’t have an active Local Guide like me around.
(And since I need help to know if this has already been discussed… I call out LGC #1 guiding angel @ErmesT )
