This was an extraordinary meet in the south south of Nigeria. We really had fun…
As you may know I would give a million bucks to get together with local guides in my locality. As often as there is a chance and time I want to connect and meet you all. I got a whimp that @Sagir was in the area for an official assignment. Wow that’s a great chance to hangout, why not of possible. We started the ball rolling, texting calling making arrangements etc.
@EmekaUlor the great accessibility man heard of it as well. It’s a travel from the South East for him, yet he planned to travel even when it was impromptu and short. The stage was set and we jumped on it. A brain wave, why not invite local guides from the area? That we did as well. The meet-up was well furnished. It was on the 12th of October in the city of Port Harcourt,Rivers State of Nigeria.
We took photos and videos of the 2 places we used for the meet-up. We got most of them featured on the maps.
We also spoke to the people about who we are local guides.
We talked about next meet-up with the local guides in the area.
We also discussed in-person events to be held locally just like this. That would avoid visa issues as we’ve always had in times past. It will bring us closer as a community.
We discussed the need to participate actively on connect. That helps local guides contribute quality on the maps. One outstanding thing is that this is the first time the 3 moderators from Nigeria came together on a meet-up. The local guides in the area of the South South we’re so thrilled to see us. We spent good 2-3 hours together although some local guides arrived late. It’s one of those meet up you wouldn’t want to end…
@SholaIB Wow, it sounds like you had an incredible meetup!
Meeting fellow Local Guides and sharing experiences is such a rewarding experience. The enthusiasm and dedication to the community are truly impressive, and it’s fantastic to see the moderators from Nigeria coming together.
Keep Guiding!
Honestly the title of this post suits the post so well. Port harcourt local guides are very fortunate to have all 3 connect moderators with them, I envy them .
