Exploring Your City Through Street Art: A Guide for Local Guides

Street art is a vibrant and dynamic way to explore a city, and as Local Guides, we have the unique opportunity to showcase the best street art in our communities. In this post, I’ll be sharing tips on how to find and photograph street art, as well as ideas for creating your own street art-themed walking tours.

Do your research: Before heading out on your street art hunt, do a quick online search to find out where the most popular street art hotspots are in your city. Websites like StreetArtNews and StreetArtGlobe are great resources to find out where the newest and most popular street art pieces are located.

Get off the beaten path: While the most popular street art spots are great, don’t be afraid to venture off the beaten path to find hidden gems. Look down alleyways, on the sides of buildings and on less-traveled streets to find unique and lesser-known street art.

Capture the art in context: Street art is often created to interact with its surroundings, so make sure to capture the art in context. Take photos of the street art with the surrounding buildings, streets and people to give a sense of the location and atmosphere.

Create a walking tour: Once you’ve found some great street art locations, consider creating your own street art walking tour. Share your favorite street art spots on Local Guides Connect and encourage other members to check them out. You can even create a map of all the street art spots you’ve found for others to follow.

Street art is an ever-changing and constantly evolving art form, and as Local Guides, we have the unique opportunity to document and share it with others. Happy hunting!

Street art is a great way to explore a city and its unique culture. It’s so interesting to see how artists express their creativity, and it adds so much to the atmosphere of a town. I think it’s also essential to document and share street art with others to show its beauty and cultural importance. @Eshank19 Thanks for sharing this guide!

Great post, dear fellow LG @Eshank19

Welcome back after almost 2 years… right?

Very useful tips… highly appreciate your efforts.

Unfortunately, in Southern India, Graffiti or Street Art PAINTINGS are very rare.

But, fortunately, we have a lot of monuments like the following photo:

Hope you will like this mural; actually, this is a part of a hillock from which this has been carved out.

@NahidHossain @OliverKIWI - do you like these?

@Eshank19 What a very nice post about how to capture street art. :slightly_smiling_face: Thank you for sharing. I make some experiments with murals, too and lately I try to capture the atmosphere around them taking pictures of people with street art in the background.
