Exploring Wonderful but Unfortunate Places in India : Most Interesting Thing

Travelling to places has always been my passion, but exploring the places which are yet undiscovered gives me a feeling of adventure as well as satisfaction. By visiting these places and reviewing them on Google Maps, I am able to influence people to visit these places so that these places can get popular.

Here I am going to tell a story of such a place which was very underrated and in the worst condition. Following the suggestion of Google Maps, I visited the place and reviewed it on Maps. I influenced so many people by letting them know about the beauty of that place and encouraged people to visit there.

I was on an office trip to Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India. As there are several coal mines near the place so it is also known as Coal Capital of India. It was a 4 days trip so I and my colleague had a lot of time to roam around the city and visit some good places. So I searched for some best places around the city and I got to know about a place called Bhantida Waterfall. I asked some localities about the place and they suggested that I should not go there. They told me the place was sealed by local administration due to the risk from the overloading coal mine dumps.

But I was so much excited to visit thereafter hearing such stories from the local people. We hired a cab and gave double fare to our driver for driving us to the place. It was a scary road covered with mountains filled with black coal. It took 2 hours to finish 40 Kms due to the poorest condition of the road. But as we reached there, we saw a beautiful waterfall coming straight between the mountains of coal. It was wonderful but weird because the place was in poor condition. The road was broken, paths & lights were destroyed and no one was even there to take care of such a lovely place.

I captured many photographs, made videos so that I could tell the story of such a place to others. I wrote about it on Maps and posted photos over there (which got a very very good response). Being a Google Local Guide, It gives me the motivation to aware people about such places which need care and attention. After I came back, I talked to many people and raised my voice on various Social media platforms for that place.

Now that place is being reconstructed by the administration and many people visit to see the beautiful waterfall every day. I was successful to perform my duty, And Yes that’s the most interesting and most inspiring thing I have done as a Google Local Guide.

Thanks!

Hi @kapilbom

It seems that you’ve shared a post for your Connect Live 2020 application. Keep in mind, one of the requirements is to share your post on Local Stories, so I’ve moved your post there, thanks.

Thank you so much @DanniS
