Exploring The Street Foods of Siliguri

When we arrived Siliguri, it was night. And our trekking will be starting from the next day. So, we decided to try some street foods. Today I’m going to share the foods we tasted.

Egg Roll: The main things in egg roll was egg and roti. After getting an order, the shopkeeper starts preparing this. I noticed he used a roti that he prepared before. At first, he fry the egg and then put the roti on top. After this he used some toppings and sauce. Unfortunately, the taste was not good as I expected. I thought it would be spicy, but the egg roll was sweet.

Momo: I think the best thing I ate in Siliguri is momo. There Chicken momo and Vegetables momo both were available. We ordered chicken momo. The momo already in steam. After getting order they started to serve us. The momo was served with chutney and sauce.

Chola: When my friend ordered this, I thought it was Jhalmuri or something like that. When I started watching the making of it, I realized it was something different. He used chola, onions, chillies, oil and also an ingredient like chanachur. After mixing all, the taste was good.

Chicken Fry: After momo, the chicken fry is another food which I liked. They prepared all ingredients. After getting order, they fry the chicken and serve with chutney.

I am glad to read you explored the street food here.

The best part of exploring street food is that you get the real taste of local cuisine made with local ingredients it’s usually pocket friendly and easily available!

I love momos with veggies which one you liked?

Hi @FalguniP di,

Street foods are really budget friendly! In Rimbick and Darjeeling, I also tasted veg momo. Both are good. But for me Rimbick’s veg momo is the best. Specially the chutney or raita made the momo more tasty.
I thought it’s all about non-veg, so you wouldn’t like it! :grimacing:

Hello @Saiyen ,

unfortunately, we don’t have such street foods here in Hamburg, Germany. :grinning:

But if a festival is taking place here, for example the Harbor birthday or another fun fair, there are a lot of amazing food stalls by showmen! :star_struck:

I love almost every foods from them, for example: roasted almonds, farturas and all the other sweets! :star_struck:

Another food stalls are selling also for example french fries and a lot of other very delicious foods. :star_struck: :fries:

I wish you a great weekend! :grinning:

Many warm greetings to you from Hamburg, Germany! :star2: :de:

Hello @Saiyen

Nothing beats the experience on the streets when you visit a place. That is where the action is.

I hope to visit India this year.

Thanks for this insight. I would look out for chicken momo and I would love to taste roti again.

Thanks

When you will visit India and in which part? After June, I’m planning for another visit. Next, I’ll also write about Indian local shops.
