While scrolling through my photo gallery, I found some pictures of similar structures captured at different places. These images featured a combination of elephant, lion, and snake-like figures, which I later learned are called Yali—a mythical creature symbolizing power, protection, and architectural beauty in South Indian temples. I think they are called Vyal or Yali.
I’ve seen them everywhere in temples Tamilnadu, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
