The history of India’s nearly two hundred years of liberation battle and centuries of freedom struggle is embedded in Cellular Jail. When the independence struggle was at its peak, the British imperialist power suppression policy was desperately trying to stop the revolutionary movement.The British realized that it was not easy to counter the people’s struggle in a country like the Continent, so the punishment of the revolutionaries was so cruel and terrible that they had to set an example for the nation. The death penalty and deportation were the most severe punishments. for that purpose,The Cellular Jail was built in the Andaman Islands of India.
In the early part of the twentieth century, when the liberation movement began to recede, the “Seven Wings”, one of the world’s safest prisons, was built in Andaman, which consisting of seven hundred prisons, taking a prolonged ten year of construction activity. I was inspired by that history of self-determination of the prisoner’s death struggle.
The cellular jail is one of the Andaman Islands precedent, which is associated with the history of India’s independence.Therefore, the main purpose of traveling to the Andaman in the post-independence period was to visit the Cellular Jail and live the history of India’s ancient glory.
