As a lover of both nature and photography, I am constantly looking for opportunities to capture the intricacies and beauty of the world around us. And one of the most fascinating genres of photography that I have enjoyed is Macro Photography.
This is a form of photography that allows us to see the world in a whole new light, by capturing the tiny details and textures of small objects or insects. And what’s even more amazing is that with the advancements in technology, we can now capture stunning macro shots using just our smartphones…! I live in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali, Mumbai, a sprawling reserve located in the heart of Mumbai. Equipped with my trusty smartphone and a keen eye for detail, I set out to capture some of the park’s most intriguing inhabitants – the Mischocyttarus, Orgyia Definita, Hycleus*,* Butterfly & Blue Bottle fly. With my smartphone, I was able to get up close and personal with these creatures and capture their intricate details in stunning macro shots. And I must say, I was amazed by the results…! I am happy to share it with our LG Community here.

The key to getting great macro shots with a smartphone lies in understanding and utilizing some important tips and tricks.
Firstly, lighting is crucial in macro photography. Since you are working with such small subjects, even the slightest shadows or harsh light can make or break your shot. In natural settings, try shooting in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is softer. Alternatively, you can also use a small external light source, such as a portable LED light, to illuminate your subject.
Secondly, stability is important when capturing macro shots. Any slight movements can result in blurry photos, which is why using a tripod or a makeshift stabilizer, such as a stack of books, can greatly improve the sharpness of your images. Next, it’s important to have a clear focus on your subject. Most smartphones have a feature that allows you to manually adjust the focus, so make sure to use it to get crisp detail on your subject.
Additionally, using the burst mode feature can help to capture multiple shots in quick succession, increasing your chances of getting the perfect shot.
Finally, explore different angles and perspectives to add more interest and dimension to your macro shots. Get creative and try unconventional compositions, such as shooting from above or below, or using reflections to add a unique twist to your photos.
With these tips in mind, I was able to capture some stunning macro shots of the miniature world around me all within the vast landscape…! And also I have uploaded these photos on Google Maps which let the visitors and my LG Community know about the hidden treasure in the Park.
Overall, Macro Photography with a smartphone is a fun and exciting way to capture the tiny wonders of the natural world. We can explore and discover new and fascinating subjects to photograph right in our own neighbourhoods. So, grab your smartphone, head out into nature, and let your creativity soar as you capture the fascinating world of macro photography and share it on Google maps.
