Hello Local Guides! ![]()
Today, I want to take you to a magnificent architectural marvel from my beautiful home district, Dinajpur.
Did you know that Bangladesh is home to what is considered the largest Eidgah in South Asia?
Welcome to the Gor-E-Shaheed Eidgah Maidan. An Eidgah is a massive open-air enclosure where Muslims gather in the morning to perform the special prayers of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha.
Here are some fascinating facts about this breathtaking structure:
Massive Capacity: Covering an enormous area of about 22 acres, this ground can accommodate up to 600,000 to 700,000 devotees praying together at the same time!
Mughal Architecture: The aesthetic beauty of the Eidgah is simply stunning. It features a 516-foot wide magnificent minaret structure that boasts exactly 52 domes.
Intricate Details: The main Mehrab stands 47 feet tall, and the structure is beautifully decorated with ceramic tiles and features 32 elegant arches. At night, the electric lights on every dome create a magical atmosphere.
Beyond just a prayer ground, this place has become a major landmark and a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike to enjoy the open sky and green space.
As a Local Guide, nothing makes me happier than sharing these grand pieces of heritage with the world.
