This picture really shows you how life is like in the under-developed areas of Pakistan, this water system is called ‘Hand Pump’ which is used as a common method of water supply in villages.
The two kids, I met on my Sindh-Explore Trip, were so excited to show me how it works, the water was fresh, cold and really clean. The best part you always need someone to pump it for you, so that you can use the water.
Wondering how they shower? that’s correct you need someone to help you out unless you take the water out in buckets.
Thank you for your photo, @ShizaSaleem , that remind me of my childhood, when in the Italian rural areas the situation was exactly the same. My evening activity, every evening, was to pump water for the cows to drink
@ErmesT I am so glad to know you could connect. Honestly it seemed fun to me doing that, but not sure how much they enjoy as it is an everyday activity for them. also how much we take for granted water being just one tap away!!
Yes you are righr, @ShizaSaleem , water seems granted, but still not like this in many areas of the world. Do you want to tell us something more about your journey in there?
Yes I would have never ending stories, so right on the way, I have experienced some amazing traditional art - Ralli making also know as ‘patch work’ it is the traditional clothing style of Sindh (Pakistan)
They basically stitch together different piece of clothing to give Ralli (Quilt) a unique color and design, the doubt no doubt was beautiful, the work was being done in a local home - where almost entire family was involved in it, like the men had a small shop outside where they would sell the Quilts stitched by females of the house.
My concern there was seeing a little girl, around 8 years old who instead of going to school or anything else, was busy stitching the quilt. Check the link below.
