Hey Guides!
On 4 June 2026, I had a new experience in my journey as a local guide. I have visited Siem Reap and Angkor International Airport (SAI) for the first time.
I was there for my work as a journalist, covering the arrival of the first group of Russian tourists to Cambodia.
But for me, this visit was more than just an assignment. It was my first time walking through SAI and seeing the airport with my own eyes. I was curious to experience the place, observe the atmosphere and see how Cambodia welcomes international visitors arriving in Siem Reap.
While I was there for work, I naturally looked at the experience through my Local Guide eyes too. I noticed the airport, the people, the arrival area and the feeling of welcoming visitors to one of Cambodia’s most important tourism destinations.
Sometimes, my work as a journalist takes me to places that I might not otherwise visit. And being a local guide gives me another reason to stop, observe and appreciate these experiences.
This visit became a small but meaningful memory in my journey “Discovering Cambodia one place and one story at a time.”
