Yesterday, I was encouraged by my fellow Egyptian local guide @ShadySalama to contribute more on Connect by sharing more pictures of the places I have visited. I found this suggestion really interesting since there are so many beautiful places out there that I hope everyone can get to know about and visit. So to start, I chose this heavenly island in Aswan, Upper Egypt: Philae
Philae is an island in the reservoir of the Aswan Low Dam on which the Pharaonic Temple Philae was built during the Ptolemaic Kingdom. That’s why certain parts of the temple were constructed on the Greek style of architecture.
The Philae Complex was disassembled and moved to the nearby Agilia Island during the UNESCO Nubia campaign project which protected many other Egyptian monuments before the complete construction of the High Dam in 1970.

Hi @NohaBasiouny ,
Thanks for sharing!
This place looks absolutely amazing, and so well preserved. I love how the surroundings are so natural and you don’t see modern buildings and technology everywhere. It’s almost like a gateway to ancient Egypt.
I suppose you have to go there by boat. Is it an easy island to travel to?
As a side note, I’ve relabelled your post to Travel, as it seems to fit better there.

Hi @MortenSI
Thanks a lot for relabeling my post! I didn’t realize it would in travel so I’ll make sure I double check the categories before I post a future article.
The place is incredibly beautiful and yes, having no modern life around it makes it so original. You have to go there by boat, exactly, since it’s on an island and it’s so easy to find one because it’s a very popular place and everyone who travels to Aswan heads there.
I hope you get to visit it soon!

I have seen various tourist attractions in Egypt and they all have this feeling of being put on a stage for the tourist because of all the modern technology surrounding it.
I would love to go and see this temple, and I will make sure to have it on my list the next time I visit Egypt.
