As a senior IT consultant with 30+ years of experience, I’ve managed many simple & sophisticated S/W development projects. In 2012, one of these projects was to design, implement & test an international portal written in three natural languages, (Those are Ar, En, and Gr), to describe & explore 30 Egyptian protectorates. Since then, I had not only visited 5 of these protectorates but also, felt in love with them all. El-Hassana Dome is the most beloved one. Although this Dome is a 135 M yrs old Cretaceous limestone formation, it stands alone in the predominantly 50 M yrs old Eocene plateau.
In the next section, I’m going to explain to you in simple steps what to do to go there:-
- Let’s start our sunny day @ 8:00 AM for example.
- As an expert local guide in google & your host in the same time, I can pick you up from within anywhere in Great Metropolitan City, Cairo.
- OR,
You as my guest can come to the nearest Metro station to our meeting point, i.e., El-Geish and/or Abdu Basha Metro stations. - We’ll go to the protectorate by using mobile applications like UBER, and it’ll take a specific route.
- We are going to take some selfies during this 1-hour tour to our destination, Giza.
- After a welcome juice is offered, we are going to have a professional, theoretical and informative session about the protectorate in general. 09:00 - 10:00
- Starting our exploration tour within the protectorate guided by well educated professional tour guide, i.e., Egyptian Ranger. 10:00 - 12:00.
- During the practical tour, we can search for fossils, samples and applying the theoretical background immediately.
- Taking selfies with ultra old background will be one of many activities to enjoy there. Meanwhile, the theoretical information is transformed to applied, approved experience.
- Kindly have a look to our previous informal visits to El-Hassana Dome and enjoy it yourself.
What else you should know before going there:-
- Just be yourself, casual dressing is OK with practical shoes for desert. It is a very good opportunity for Egyptology students and/or Geology, Archaeology & Earth’s History students too.
