Exploring Chennai (Madras)

Welcome to Chennai, which was known as Madras till 1996. Chennai is situated in the southern part of India, and is capital of the state of Tamilnadu, India.

Chennai is a city of rich heritage with a mix of the old conservative society and the modern. There’s lot to know and share about Chennai, which is 375+ years old now.

In this post, let me take you across the length and breadth of Chennai, covering some of the highlights of the City. It would be impossible to write all about Chennai in a single blog for sure.

The first and foremost aspect that comes to mind of Chennai is the Marina beach, the world’s 2nd longest urban beach.

Next to mention are the famous museums. Various world famous temples are also found in Chennai.

Chennai also has the St Thomas Mount, named after the disciple of Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Thomas came to Chennai and was buried in Santhome Basilica. This is one of the 3 Churches in the world, built over the tomb of an apostle of Jesus Christ.

Chennai is also home to many IT parks and hospitality industry. Chennai is well connected with all forms of transport, with metro being the latest addition. Adding below some of the photos of Chennai, from my camera, taken on the occasion of the 375th birthday of Chennai/Madras.

Chennai doesnt fail to attract people, in form for work, tourists and also for medical facilities.

The weather in Chennai is of just 3 seasons - hot, hotter, hottest!!
