Exploring California. Pinnacles National Park

During my last visit to the USA, I visited an amazing place with my half brother. Now I am on quarantine, and finally, I’m able to process photos from this trip.

Pinnacles National Park is located east of Salinas Valley, Central California. An amazingly beautiful place where you feel closer to nature.

If you plan to visit it, be sure to bring a flashlight and very comfortable tourist shoes with you - to get to the small but fantastic beautiful Bear Gulch reservoir, you will need to overcome the same name path and the cave.

Some places in the cave are very dark, and with water running down the bottom of the cave.

It was a real challenge, but it was worth it.

You can see more beautiful photos from the Pinnacles National Park in my album, and on Google Maps.

Nice place @SergeySud

Thank you so much for sharing. I see it is not so far from the bay Area, this will make it very interesting for the Local guides who will attend Connect Live.

How long is to reach the park from San Jose?

Have you applied for the next event?

Hi @ErmesT

It is only 1.5 hours by car from SJ, and the route is very simple - all along the same road. This year the event should take place in the Bay Area. This is not necessarily San Jose.

I applied for the next event, but being a realist, I have little faith to be chosen. My experience in the Google Geo services is from 2008, it’s somewhat more than the experience of most team members. I know too much. :^)))

I know the event will be “on the Bay Area”, @SergeySud , but my feeling is that il will be in any caso South of San Francisco, in a place close to Mountain View, so it can be Palo Alto, Santa Clara, San Jose, or wherever around there, so I am using SJ as a reference.

Who knows, Sergey. I wish you good luck in any case. Crossing my fingers

HI @helga19

I spent only a few days in California, but thanks to my half brother I was able to visit several unique locations.

Among these locations:

  • The Mystery Spot. It’s a funny tourist attraction near Santa Cruz, California. It’s a gravity hill, a tilt-induced visual illusion.

One of the many optical illusions at the Santa Cruz Mystery Spot.

  • unique Natural Bridges park in Santa Clara - Monarch Butterfly Natural Preserve provides a temporary home for thousands of Monarchs.

  • Stanford University

  • Lick Observatory.

These are not all locations! It was an unforgettable journey

Yes, I’ve visited one of telescope halls, it’s something unbelievable. Later on I’ll create a new topic about it. Stay tuned! :^)

Amazing photos @SergeySud , the place looks gorgeous! The cave adds an extra level of adrenaline I’m sure. I would love to go here some day!

How is the chance of seeing wildlife in this national park?

Hi @MortenSI

Thank you for your interest.

The cave was a real challenge, we had to crawl some places.

When I’ve visited the visitor center, there was information about wildlife in the park. Mammals and birds that inhabit this park include prairie falcon and peregrine falcon, falcon, California condor, golden eagle, California quail, great horned owl, wild turkey, hummingbird, coyote, skunk, bobcat, raccoon, gray fox, cougar, and thirteen species of bats.

I managed to take photos of some fauna representatives even despite the fact that I spent only a few hours in the park.
