Exploring Artworks of Lodhi

Lodhi Art District is one of India’s largest hubs for most unusual wall art called “Murals” which showcases some of the most colorful gratifies does on regular houses of that area with a lot of thought and compassion. Lodhi is believed to be a place rich in culture and its generous people. We will also walk through some of new murals recently added painters from around the world during the Lodhi Art Festival that ended in March 2019. It will change the way we look at art and would give us an opportunity to look through a painter’s eye. Would cover the following artworks to name some : Block 16 – Gupt Dwar by Singaporean Painters - Central arch which the artists call the ‘Gupt Dwar’ meaning ‘secret passageway’ which is meant to lead you to good health and fortune Block 18 – By the people by Locals - After performing the outline and coloring of the wall here, the people of the community were asked to write words they associated with Lodhi Colony and issues they feel are pertinent to address. Block 12 – Adarsh Balak by Mumbai Artist – The iconic poster boy Adarsh boy and his daily chores are reflected on this wall Block 5 – Trans by 15 Trans women - Unity is what emerges from the image they’ve created in a process that is fundamentally based on inclusion. Please carry water bottle, good shoes and a smile!

As the heatwave in on a sudden rise in Delhi, the timings of the walk has been chaged to 8am to 10am! I’m sharing a tentative schedule to help you get a taste of the walk already 
Our Meeting Point shall be Samaj Sadan Community Center , Lodhi Road
(Near Delhi Public Liabrary , Block 10)

About Reaching the Venue -
- Metro : Please get down at Jor Bagh metro station on Yellow Line. Meeting Point is 15 minutes away by autos available at metro. Distance is not walkable and e-rickshawas are not available at this metro. Please plan such that you arrive at meeting point by 8am.
- Car / Own Vehicle : Use Maps to reach Samaj Sadan Community Center Lodhi. There is plenty of parking space available near the community center. You can also park in Main Market opposite to sadan (in front of Guppy Cafe)
- Carpooling : You can carpool with other local guides via whatsapp group (link available on Local Guides Connect event post)
