Explore Australia with Lok - Wollongong & Sydney Ep1

As a youngster, I love to explore the world more if I have the time and the chance. Every chance is just another golden opportunity. Maybe you miss it this time, you will never have the chance again. So last year august, when I am still a university student., I joined an exchange tour organized by my school. It was a 2-week tour and mainly visit New South Wales - Sydney & Wollongong. And the purpose of the tour was to experience the teaching from the original university and of course sight-seeing. I am planning to write several articles or like episodes for this tour, this is because of the whole trip was a 2-week tour and I have visited many beautiful and stunning spots among the two places.

Before I start, I want to mention a thing. This trip, I went with my friends that I met at the college and after that, I have met more and more friends. So sometime, people will ask, which one do you more prefer, travel by yourself or travel with a bunch of friends? There is no definite answer. It just a matter of how you treasure the time. That is the answer for me. Of course, you can have your private time, just allocate your time properly.

Back to my Australia trip. It is my first time travel to Australia, the first time to the southern hemisphere, the first time to take a plane and need to travel more than 6 hours. So it is quite a special trip for me. As I have mentioned I travel to Australia was in August, so it was winter there. It was totally a big surprise to me for the weather. While Hong Kong in winter, I have experienced the lowest degree was about 6°C. And I am only wearing a t-shirt with a casual jacket when I go out. But it is another case when I was in Australia. Even it recorded 6°C that day, I felt it was even cooler than it was.

I arrived at Sydney Airport almost at noon on my first day. So the tourist guide arranged for us to have a quick lunch in Sydney. The restaurant named Blue Fish. It located in the Harbourside Shopping Centre of the Darling Harbour. The food was delicious. Moreover, the sight from both sides of the Darling Harbour is stunning. I will try to organize all the photos in Sydney into 1 or 2 episodes later. Coz, I went back to Sydney at the weekends and the last few days of the tour.

After lunch, we have taken around one and half an hour road trip to Wollongong. This would be the main city I stayed in for two weeks. It was around 4 or 5 when we arrived at Wollongong. The first day almost ends and didn’t travel to any particular place on the first day. And on the second day, we were arranged to visit around the campus. In addition, I will leave an episode for what I have done and what I saw on the campus.

On the third day, we were arranged to have a sightseeing tour around the city. We first went to Battery Park along the Cliff road. There were a few cannons standing. It is an area wherein the old time for defense any enemy from the sea. This park is on a cliff. At the front of the park, we can already see the beach and the endless ocean. You can see the whole coastline easily and it was really stunning.

We walked down to the Blue Mile Pathway. There were sand beaches and rocky beaches. They were just located side to side. When we were having a walk on the pathways, we just saw people were enjoying their private time by running, cycling, taking their kids out…etc. It was just that relaxed. There was a special facility along with them. It is a continental pool. It is just next to the ocean. Moreover, I saw some people were swimming inside.

We kept walking and reached Beach Cove, Belmore Basin Wollongong. We took some photos there. And then we just went back to Brighton Beach as the finishing line of this half-day sightseeing tour. So in the afternoon, we went back to college and have some activities.

After that, my friends and I decided to go to the lookout and watch the sunset before we reach home. So we drove to the. It was really cold up there. But I didn’t regret my decision. As I mentioned in previous articles, I love the sunset view. When I reached the top of Mount Keira and look at the city view, OHHHHH MYYYY GODDDDDDD… it was beautiful. The color of the sky was golden orange. The whole city is under my eyes. I spent an hour there just watching the sunset and slowly slowly changed to night time. On the side of the lookout, there is a route for climbing the mountain. If anyone of you is interested in climbing, you can climb the mountain. Or else, you can just drive to the lookout.

I choose some photos and put them here. See if you like this episode, I will write more later if you like it.

The weather looks amazing there.

@Zeg

I would say it is perfect. The weather is somehow like around 10-13 degree celsius. The blue sky and the sunlight made me feel warm and comfortable.
