My story began in 2006 as a writer with Google’s blogging platform, Blogspot .
The IT Advisor with Godaddy and Poet, AJ (I’ll add his name in the comments section if need be), mentioned that he had a blog on Blogspot, so I registered a blog calling it literaryspot.blogspot. com then later lifesverseinthemedia.blogspot.com (I’ll confirm the blog link in the comments section).
Now I have a blog mainly about nature and nature photography called anaturespath.blogspot.com
Then another poet mentioned using WordPress which I still use.
I also use YouTube which is why I use blogspot as my main blog to post my writings, general poetry and nature photography.
The reason I have given a brief introduction into how I know about Google’s writing and media tools on the Internet is, (about time too Google!! ) it has taken me decades to get to where I was hoping to get in 2006!!
My interest in writing began at Boarding school in the Caribbean (why I say the Caribbean is I love all the islands and no one island stand out alone for me except Cuba as it’s nearer my way of thinking than the others), in the open fields when the Head Nun took our class out onto the school grounds during our English lessons and sat us by a tree to read poetry at the age of 7/8.
So I’d spend time in my mother’s cake and ice cream parlour (and bar in the evening), pretending to read comic magazines ! I had no idea what the words meant!!
From then onwards I read my cousin’s Nancy Drew Mysteries and later I bought the Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven and Five series; Heidi; girls annuals Jackie; comic magazine Beano and others.
Then ultimately studied English, Literature and Writing at University and applied myself to write poetry as I still had to work so writing a novel was difficult.
Why I say thank you to Google is I have always had/still have a brilliant platform for my writing and photography which I have done since my teenage years, starting with a manually operated camera, (brand) Practika.
Finally after all these years of feeling the pressure of publicly posting my writings and photography, of feeling unaccountably drained for just posting a poem and/or photograph I took the previous day to posting it, inexplicably irritable at times when I usually find time to relax my mind, and many other moments which would have put me off blogging; subtly and more likely inadvertently ‘put off’ writing/blogging, I still write regardless.
I have been writing and/or posting my photography consistently since 2006.
Previous to that I did write but tried doing other things like going to the gym and doing exercise classes (not the same thing but it was a way of occupying my spare time). Yet my hand would be drawn to a pen and paper and I found internal satisfaction in writing a poem and taking photographs (my father loved writing and MC’ing; my mum was an amatuer artist; my grandfather was a Draughtsman - so maybe that’s why I love the arts so much).
Now all kudos and credit to Google for asking me to be a local guide after my 30 Day Nature Challenge in June 2018.
Gracias. Toda. Danke.
I can say I am an expert in my field of writing and photography and my current title as a Master Reviewer and Master Factfinder (fast becoming an Expert Photographer) in a month and a half of being a Local Guide undoubtedly proves my point:-
To be a Master Reviewer and Master Factfinder as well as an Expert Photographer takes decades of experience to accomplish. There’s the internal mood swings to deal with; the subtle snobbery by others who think they can do better; the opinionated individuals…the list is endless.
Besides, there’s the dealing with others and what’s to come as a known Reviewer. Nothing will help you be more prepared than experience.
