Today I received a notification on my phone that said that the expert FactFinder badge has received an improvement. When I click it it just takes me to Google maps. No explanation. Anyone have any ideas what this might be? Thank you in advance for any help that you might have.

At that time you may have crossed the threshold of 100 nos and then got that notification.

Thank you for reaching out. If you received such update you probably have reached the target for one of the requirements for the badge.
You can check your progress for each badge by going to the My Contributions tab. From there click the arrow right underneath your profile name and right after your overall points.
