Hello LG Friends,

Greetings of the day!

This is an extended post of the original post shared by @TravellerG .

In this post, I am just sharing my own personal experience regarding the “Leaderboards” platform by @AdamGT and its user-friendliness. As a happy user of the “Leaderboards” platform is, I find it very motivating and seeing my name in the top 100 list for August 2023. It looks promising and inspiring to contribute more and in turn bringing everyone together with authentic reviews and pictures on Google Maps. It keeps us engaged with our contributions on Google Maps.

What it would provide us:

  • The meetup will help local guides in registration process.
  • How and when to update the data.
  • It will also enable users to ask their queries and doubts related to this platform.
  • How this can help you improve your profile in Google Connect and Google Maps?
  • A leaderboard will keep you informed with your own Google Maps data and around the world data. And, how you can further direct your efforts towards authentic reviews and pictures on Google Maps.

Hi @AdamGT ,

As discussed on yesterday’s call, my name is Resham Das and I am a Level 9 local guide from Kolkata, West Bengal, India. In September 2021, I filled up a Google Form shared by you, to provide my data about joinedDate, maxPhotoViews etc. However, I have never registered on your website https://www.top100localguides.com.

Despite that, when I attempted to register yesterday, I found that the username already exists. When I tried to do a ‘Forget Password’ with specifying my email ID, I got no password reset email. This indicates that someone might have been using my username to get access of this website with a different email ID, and may have access to my Local Guides data. Hence, I would request you to kindly look into this matter on an urgent basis.

Hello @ReshamDas

This is indeed a serious matter so much so that almost immediately after the meet-up finished I spoke with @TravellerG briefly about this as I thought it strange that during the meet-up you said you hadn’t been able to complete your registration when on checking I had seen that a Local Guide with the name ReshamDas had successfully registered quite some time before.

OK so let’s see what we can discover. Can you first please advise, did you add this star photo post on Connect?

@ReshamDas please visit your profile page and note the email address shown in the Private statistics area and send me that email address in a private message so that I can compare this with the email of the already registered ReshamDas.

Thank you @ReshamDas for providing the information that I have asked you for and after a detailed investigation I conclude and advise you as follows:

  1. On 10 September 2021 you used the then Google Form to register for participation on the Top 100 Leaderboards (see your name listed here). I have full details of your registration including your credentials Username, Email, Userid, Local Guide Start date, Connect registration date dates etc etc etc and these have all now been checked to be true and correct and match all your current credentials including your email that you have just given me. From all this, there can be little doubt that you had in fact previously registered for participation on the Top 100 Leaderboards.
  2. As well as entering your Maps data, on that same day you posted this star photo on Connect and here you confirmed that you did.
  3. After registering and adding your data, you first appeared on the Photo views leaderboards on September 2021 (see #85 here and here). Your star photo was also listed on the September 2021 star photos leaderboards (see #22 here and #23 here).
  4. You didn’t update your data since that date but have appeared on the respective leaderboards ever since (see the August leaderboards #109 here, #14 here) and #35 here). Note that because you had not been updating your data, you have been gradually dropping lower and lower on the leaderboards and most likely will totally fall off them in the coming months unless you update your data (see point #8 below)!
  5. On April 8, 2022 we introduced the new Top 100 System and to retain all the history, all historical data of participants, including yours, was transferred onto the new system and this is why you details appear there and not because someone else has registered in your name.
  6. So for you to proceed from here, I will set a temporary password and pm this to you so that you can login and use the new Top 100 system. Once you do, you must check your profile details and also decide and let me know if you want to retain or delete your historical data.
  7. To help you with the new system, you will be sent an auto-response email with a Startup Guide. This will be sent to the email address that you have indicated (see point $1 above).
  8. Please note that in just a few days we will begin preparing the September 2023 leaderboards so if you wish to be included on these with updated data, then I suggest that that you proceed with the above advice ASAP…
  9. You should update your data each month.

I hope this explains everything and helps you move forward.

During the end question time of the meet-up, a second Local Guide mentioned having a problem. I understand that @Anil6969 suggested that you should copy the chat window so would you please check this and provide details on who it is so that I can see if I can help this Local Guide.
