Thanks…
Your suggestion is good.
But google Maps is a worldwide platform and system.
They Choose that thing that cover all criteria from the world…
Street art is mainly popular but it’s not popular in India and other country… So I think that matter google Maps not add this.
Ya, we add this in Subcategory of attractions. …
Also check my post that get you idea…

I agree @smadar that there is still a lot of room for improvement when it womes to localized categories - I keep lobbying to get things moving
If you want to find out more of my thoughts on the topic: there is a dedicated podcast episode on this.
One more thing which is quite important here on the forum: if you want to make sure that another Connect user sees a reply you give, make sure to ‘tag’ them by typing the ‘@’ symbol and then select that user from the list (or start typing the name if there is no list).
Thank you very much for your advice @JanVanHaver
He is very friendly.
Great to see more street art fans out here @MABU
@JanVanHaver This news makes me very happy. It opens a door to new and interesting contributions. If it wasn’t for the quarantine, I’d run out to add new locations
I send you a hug from Argentina and I hope to see you once this nightmare is over!
How can I add you as a friend?
Excellent post and edition. I may need to add more ideas in the Exchange forum.
The hug is highly appreciated @CaroGuiniazu , especially in these crazy days. But we’ll get through
@MABU you can only ‘follow’ people here. Just click on the profile picture and scroll down to the bottom (where you can find the button to send a private message).
The posts from the people you follow will the show up in the section ‘Following’.
Keep me updated @user_not_found
if you post new ideas - I’ll probably want to upvote those
Hello @JanVanHaver , mr. Google Moderator, good to hear from you. And good to see you have been hard at work.
The new categories all seem very useful to me, especially the Cultural Landmark, which I expect to be widely used.
It is however with some sadness I see the three categories go that you mention …
A time and temperature announcement service is what I would call “A public thermometer and clock”.
They do occur I think. I managed to find a photo of myself with a “Public Temperature Announcement Service” in Muscat, Oman:
Admittedly there is no time service included here.
Also the “Industrial Area” is a well known concept to me, it is certainly widely used in the oil and gas industry (which I -these days- shamefully have to admit is my professional background - now we call it the Energy Industry to avoid the connotation with hydrocarbons). With warm feelings I recall my many visits to my companies premises in places like Nigeria and the middle east, which are typically split into a Residential Area and a Industrial Area (RA and IA in the jargon)
Then finally the religious seminary. My days in school were at the Leeuwenhorst College in Noordwijkerhout, which was a converted religious seminary (a school for -in this case Catholic- priests). Many of my teachers were priests or ex-priests. But maybe this is indeed a dwindling category in these days of secularisation … not so perhaps in e.g. the Philippines and South America where the faith is still strong?
In any case, progress is hard to stop I guess. Just some sentimental mutterings from an ageing local guide with too much time on his hands,
Keep up the good work!
See you maybe,
Cheers
Hermes aka Gertjan.
We could discuss that during the upcoming virtual Meetup for Dutch speaking local guides @Hermes_van_Amstel (it’s not 100% fixed yet, but it’s looking good)
Good to know. Cultural landmark is especially useful. Now I’ll be able to try and add several street art objects.
Great to learn about new categories from you. I hope this Covid-19 with its movement restrictions ends soon and allow us to make contributions.
Hello everyone
I have question, about category of murals/street arts…
Few months ago murals become another part of the cities that I like to see during my travels, becasue i’ve found that many of them are kind of art.
When I start to add some or improve the existing ones I’ve found info here to choose a Cultural landmark for them. But later I’ve found on the map in other city that people use category ‘Painting’… Exactly, painting, but not artist, not galery art, not art, not museum, but simple ‘painting’… And I start to think - maybe it is better to use this category for 1 mural?
Note that ‘cultural site’ has similar questions to ‘tourist attraction’ - what day did you visit, do you recommend buying tickets in advance, etc.
What do you think? @JanVanHaver
I don’t see any immediate objection to using Painting @Vanalai - as so often there are several possibilities to select from and no clear definitions
I agree. There has be this option
There are many murals to add.
I add traversal folders list:
