Sometimes new categories are added for which I am wondering if I will ever be able to use them, but that is certainly NOT the case for some of the brand new categories I have now stumbled upon.
Especially the category Cultural landmark is an exciting one in my view, as it can be used to map e.g. street art (like the Keith Haring mural in Pisa in the picture above). This is something quite a few people have been asking about, and it was actually the opening example I used in the Idea Exchange post suggesting to Reconsider selection criteria for new places. Also Gated community is a category that was already requested a couple of times, and Interior Decorator is defintely one I have searched for already when adding/editing places to Maps.

As usual, also some categories are removed, but I wonder if anyone will miss all of them (or did you really know that there was a category โTime and temperature announcement serviceโ and if so: how many of them are anywhere near you?). Hereโs the list:

Youโre totally right We surely use some of these new categories. Personally I may use Cultural Landmark more. The Gated community is a category we had before, happy to hear it enabled again.
But also the two first removed categories were very usable ones.
Youโre always on top of the new categories , @JanVanHaver - very helpful! Especially the cultural landmark options for cases like street art and the gated community, which there are a lot of here in Miami and should be reflected to show that.

Indeed @Amiran I found an older post that referred to the fact that Gated community was available in the Map maker days. For some regions it is really important to have, apparently.
Why not have a category called โStreet Artโ if I would like to search for street art in London on Google Maps I would not search for โCultural Landmarkโ.
We surely use some of these new categories. Personally I may use Cultural Landmark more. The Gated community is a category we had before, happy to hear it enabled again.
