Few days back I went to visit Doctor and was waiting for my appointment and thought of having a tea in meanwhile ( We Indians love tea ) so I asked Google assistant for nearby tea stalls and the nearest one was 1.5 km away, I was sure that’s not true cause there’s a tea stall in every nook and corner in India.
I went outside and asked watchman for nearby tea stall and that was just few blocks away here I was at Khushi Tea Stall, smelling the aroma of Tea. This shop was run by an own women in her min 60’s working hard to make ends meet. When I asked her about Google maps she replied they accept Paytm ( Popular Mobile Payments app in India ) she had no idea of Google maps. I listed her on maps and listing went live even before I finished tea.
There is tremendous potential for Local Guides and Maps in developing countries like India where there are billions of mobile users and millions of small businesses to be listed.
I hope even if she gets one new customer everyday from listing on maps I have helped her in someway to make her living better.
