European Privacy Laws

Some owners and staff have given their consensus to getting their photos taken or to be recorded.

Recently Google just got hit with a fine from France.

Websites like shutterstock require a written consent from people in the photos. The consent form has the person s full details: phone, address, email and so on.

How would a person submit a written consent form to Google Maps?

Has a written consent form been considered?

Important thread @O_Nate

As I know, currently there is not such form or even a check-mark to show the consent of people who appeared in photo. And because of this we make faces blurry. In other cases, business owners should provide a written consent but it is useful only when Google or maybe judgment needs such information about a challenge on a photo.

But also unfortunately there are lots of privacy concern photos on the map and Google should be more serious in this case

Blurring faces makes sense.

However, some people want their faces in the photos. They want their company or event to have a face.

Some photos are rejected. Others are not.

A form would be a good idea.

Hi @O_Nate

I think you should post your idea in Idea Exchange part of Local Guides Connect.

That’s the best place to suggest new features to Google Maps.

Please, describe there how it should works and why your idea should be implemented to Google Maps.

Regards,

Jacek
