Pulau Harapan, sampai jumpa di perjalanan berikutnya.
Pulau Harapan: Two Days Away from the Hustle and Bustle of the City
Sometimes, all we need is to get away for a while—to leave our routines behind, turn off the notifications for a moment, and let the sea carry our thoughts somewhere more peaceful. Pulau Harapan, part of the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu), was our choice for a short 2-day, 1-night getaway, but it was enough to recharge the energy that had slowly been drained by our daily routines.
The journey began early in the morning at Kali Adem Harbor, Muara Angke. After meeting up and collecting our boat tickets, we departed for Pulau Harapan at around 8 a.m. For nearly three hours, the boat carried us farther away from the hustle and bustle of Jakarta. Slowly, the city skyline and busy streets disappeared, replaced by endless blue water and small islands scattered across the horizon.
Around midday, we finally arrived at Pulau Harapan. After checking in at our homestay and having lunch, the journey was far from over.
In fact, the real adventure was just beginning. We headed out by boat to explore the surrounding islands and go snorkeling around Pulau Genteng Besar. The clear water, refreshing sea breeze, and chance to play in the ocean made those few hours pass far too quickly.
As afternoon approached, we continued our adventure with some watersports at Pulau Dolphin. The weather was wonderfully sunny that day. On our way back, we were treated to a beautiful sunset as the sun slowly disappeared beyond the horizon. It was one of the moments we had been looking forward to the most. It felt as if nature had deliberately slowed down time, allowing us to enjoy the changing colors of the sky a little longer.
After spending the afternoon enjoying the sea, we returned to Pulau Harapan. As night fell, it was time to shower, have dinner, and take a break. But the evening was not quite over yet. There was a bonus BBQ at the Pulau Harapan pier. I had planned to enjoy some food while chatting by the sea, accompanied by the sound of the waves and the cool night breeze. Unfortunately, I could barely keep my eyes open, so going to bed early became my choice that night.
After breakfast and checking out, the adventure continued with island hopping on the second day. This time, we visited Pulau Bulat and Pulau Pamegaran. It was more than just a holiday; it also gave us an opportunity to get a closer look at life and the ecosystem of these island communities.
Around midday, we returned to Pulau Harapan to prepare for the journey home. The boat then took us back toward Muara Angke Harbor. The three-hour journey gave us plenty of time to enjoy the ocean views once again, while slowly realizing that our short island escape was coming to an end.
Around 2 p.m., we arrived back at Muara Angke. Two days and one night may sound short, but Pulau Harapan left us with so many memories: blue seas, snorkeling, tiny islands, a beautiful sunset, and a BBQ by the pier. Sometimes, we don’t need to travel for a long time to feel refreshed—sometimes, all we need is to get away for a while, look at the sea, and simply allow ourselves to enjoy the journey. ![]()
