I’m new to the Connect community but very active on Google Maps. I’m writing to see if there are any new solutions to this…
I spend a significant amount of time updating Google Maps and I do my best to add high quality photos + videos + reviews of places that I visit. Recently, I noticed that nearly half of my reviews are not showing. I emailed Google and they just kept sending me automated messages.
People might say, ‘your reviews violate policies…’ but how can that be? For example, it doesn’t matter what I write, my review doesn’t consistently show up. I’ve written both very simple reviews and very detailed ones - neither show up. Like today I went to a restaurant and posted a review, and it doesn’t show up publicly. However, my pictures do. It also seems that when I post reviews with pictures - they especially don’t show up. If I go back and edit an old review that is not publicly displaying, sometimes when I republish it, it will start showing up. So it is very inconsistent. I think it is a bug in their algorithm or perhaps my account is in a weird review state.
There has to be some way to speak with Google about this right? I feel like my account might be incorrectly blocking things or something. If not, why should I continue to contribute to Google Maps? There’s no point in me adding to Google Maps if my reviews don’t show publicly… can someone help with this?
