Entertaiment during Covid-19: Board games.

Game rules

Playing for the first time the German board game: Mensch ärgere Dich nicht.

Hi everyone!

I had so much fun discovering this game that I must to make a post about my experience.

First of all, the literal translation of the game is " Do not get angry, man". I found it very

emotional game, because it is really unpredictable and it all a good luck game.

In the beginning of the game my boyfriend told me that he is an expert in it. He was super

exited even to share it as a story on Instagram. My excitement was so hight that after the third

game I also started with stories.

My boyfriend is German, so he is under the description:“DE”.?

“IT” stands for Italy, because I am an Italian citizen. ?

My figures were green. My boyfriend had blue pieces.

Then we played another two rounds.

The goal of the game is to have all your figures staying nicely on the colorful “home” row.

After four rounds we were DE:2, IT:2. So the fifth round were a conclusive one.

For me it did’t look good, because my boyfriend had already the three pieces standing in the “home” row. On another hand my three figures were on the “base”, even before the start ?. That was a desperate situation.

I was lucky to kick out constantly his unique figure till when we had both one piece each on the playing board.

We were going head to head!

From that point we had much fun. It was all about throwing the die and laugh and move the figureы, count fields and keep laughing and betting on the winner.

See the first picture of this post. I was lucky to reached all my “home” fields only three steps before.

To conclude, I would like to repeat that this an emotional game. Don’t be angry, if you will keep being behind. You can still win how it happened to me. I suggest you to try it. The process will bring you a lot of joy.

I read that there are similar board games in India, America, Columbia and Britain. If some of you, guys, has one, please sent me a picture via email or Instagram. Especially if you have the one of your parents or grandparents. I found it fascinating only to have a look of old style graphic. They are special.

Hi @Nata_lie_nat that sounds like an interesting game. I love the name. I have been playing Uni and Monopoly with family and we have been getting tired recently. I will see if I can find this game online here in Australia.

By the way, Welcome to Connect. Have you had a chance to take a look at “Your guide at to connect.”? It’s a good starting point for this forum.

@sparekh That are two amazing games! Before all the pandemic started I played twice Monopoly with a friends of mine. It’s a lot of fun but both times we didn’t finish the game  , even we were 5 players. It takes a lot of time.

The game:“Mensch ärgere dich nicht” you can find in Amazon with the worldwide shipment. I can explain you rules, or you can watch them in english on Youtube :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Nata_lie_nat , I have the game and thank you for reminding me of it!

This board game in Bulgaria during communism before 1989 was very popular and is said “Don’t be angry Man”. Unfortunately, almost no one is playing this game anymore.
Our version is slightly different otherwise the principle of game is the same.
I learned that this version was created by Joseph Friedrich Schmidt in 1914. It is similar to the Pachisi game created in India ca. 500 BC, where it is still considered a national game.

Best regards!

Guys, I noticed I have some problems to generate some links.

So here is the direct link for Game Rules from Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mensch_%C3%A4rgere_Dich_nicht

Hola! Bienvenida @Nata_lie_nat !
