While on a journey, I don’t prefer to eat in famous restaurants/ hotels. I procure local food products and get it prepared by local people on the spot. This is the best way to enjoy local recipes. Apart from learning the local recipes, I also learn about the herbs and spices they use locally for their dishes. By sharing the food with locals I also get the chance to learn the secrets of the recipes that have been passed on to generations. The myths, legends and unpublished stories while eating the food make it cherishable moments of the lifetime. This is the experience you will hardly get in five-star hotels or famous restaurants. If you really want to live the life of locals you need to start it from the local food made by the local people at their own kitchen. Local food is my gateway to the heart of the local people. This helps me become a local myself and gel up with the local culture very easily. These learnings make me a star in the shore excursions on weekends with my friends where we cook our food ourselves in the old traditional way. I generally pick up the local seasonal vegetables and get it cooked with the help of local small eateries or local people. I shared the learnings with the world through social media where people learn about the unknown traditional delicacies of Uttarakhand. I also share my stories of short trips. The adventure lovers can also follow and cook on their on own during their picnics, camping, trekking etc. My posts are mostly followed by adventure lovers who are continuously looking for new places to visit. I started it as a hobby which I love the most. But now it turned into my passion. I will continue it doing. Being a local guide I feel responsible to share not only the knowledge about the local culture, art, food, natural beauty, facts about the locals and their life but also make the world familiar with my state by sharing my stories. Many people have inhibition about visiting this beautiful pahadi state. Uttarakhand is a state of numerous breathtaking natural places, famous celebrated religious pilgrimages but still, apart from them, there are many places which are at par with them but not usually explored by common men. I love visiting such places and sharing about them with the world.
