This use to be a very busy part of the Petrochemical plant of Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company. At the onset of the Corona Virus pandemic, about 450 out of 700+ contract staff were sacked. If you consider the fact that staff attrition in the company was already an issue, the fact that the pandemic was hitting hard on the population in Nigeria, the increasing number of people falling below the poverty line and a host of security issue in the country, then you would see how huge the multiplier effect is/will be.
Now we have empty streets, offices and an oil and gas refinery plant that is not producing anything. It’s not surprising that the pump price of petroleum products are on the rise in Nigeria. Painfully horrible.
In spite of all that, the sky is still BEAUTIFUL!!!
