This Park means Shri Chamarajendra Park features many historical buildings built on impressive European architecture and houses few life size statues of famous people. My eyes suddenly stopped on a statue installed on a high pedestal. And I was in Queen’s Park which is parallel to Cubbon Park and both are laid in Shri Chamarajendra Park. There was an inscription in four languages about this statue on all the four sides of the pedestal. According to the English inscription, this magnificent marble statue is of Edward VII who is the King of Great Britain and Ireland as well as the Emperor of India from 1901 to 1910. Erected by public subscription in 1914. This statue was carved by the renowned British sculptor Leonard Jennings.
And below the Edward VII’s inscription another inscription mentions that it was Unveiled By His Excellency The Right Honourable FREDERICK JOHN NAPIER BARON Chelms Ford Viceroy And Governor General Of India P.C.G.M.S.I., G.C.M.G., G.M.I.E., O.B.E. On The 28th Day Of November 1919.
In fact, the craftsmanship of this life size statue done by Leonardo is amazing and his dedication towards art is praiseworthy.
