I’ve noticed an entire string of businesses in my area are not listed as service area businesses, when they should be. They’ve listed their house as their business location, but any way you slice it, their house doesn’t meet the requirements of a business. Within a minute of me reporting the business, my edit is listed as “Not Applied” in my contributions. 2 of the businesses are pending, and the other two are not applied. It seems very odd. One business even says clearly in it’s description that it’s a virtual business.
Though it is not typically common for every suggestion to not be applied, it is possible that it will be marked as “Someone made a suggestion that this place doesn’t exist” for another local contributor.
This happens often where I live. There are many businesses that operate out of their home but I do not have the final say. It is the community as a whole that helps make the suggestion.
Also, as mentioned above, houses can typically run businesses, depending on what the business is. It would be unlikely that a house is a car dealership though, for example. But a house could easily be a location for computer repairs or something similar. When checking the facts on Google, you will get a screen similar to this:
You can click on the Google button to do a quick web search to see if the facts are accurate. So in my case, if I am not 100% certain, I will click on that button and do cross referencing to confirm the address (or whatever else Google might be asking me to confirm)
Either way, do not get discouraged if your edits are not applied. It really is a community wide effort. I hope this helps you.
There are several reasons for an edit to be rejected.
Basically an edit is not applied when cannot be verified, but it can also be blocked, for some areas or for specific categories, to prevent possible abuse
