Edits are getting declined constantly for more than a month

Hi everyone,

I have been a regular contributor on Maps, particularly emphasizing on map edits. But since June 19, my edits are getting declined within a couple of minutes. Be it name changes, category changes, addition of new places or removing spams, every single edit is instantaneously getting declined.

For example, this is a public university in Bangladesh, whose name and category were vandalized. I submitted two separate edits to fix it, but the edits were declined. I had to ask other local guides to take a look at it, and their edits were approved.

This is a shop that I tried to add, and got the same result, instant decline.

Can’t even remove the spam locations. No edits are getting through.

Am I being shadow banned or suspended or something like that? What is going on?

Hello @SadmanRafid
This is exactly what happened to me. I wanted to add a salon on the 27th of last month. But it was immediately rejected.

Hey @SadmanRafid
thanks for sharing your experience, this is in this thread - My site edit rejection rate is 100%

Tagging @MoniDi to escalate this issue to relevant team.

Some Connect moderators might tell me to post this over on the Google Maps help forum. But you see, the product experts on the support forum do not easily get the problems that local guides face, they try to provide surface-level solutions, which doesn’t work most of the time. Plus, I’m not the only one dealing with this issue. So it makes way more sense to escalate it directly to the Maps team straight from the Connect forum.

Hi @SadmanRafid

Have you tried to click on the “Not accepted” location ? maybe you’ll find it was pointed on the maps. it happened to me many times.

Hello @SadmanRafid

Don’t get discouraged! Rejections happen to all of us on Maps, even after successfully adding hundreds of roads or places. The automated system can be overly cautious, especially if multiple edits are submitted back-to-back.

A few quick tips that usually help:

Pace yourself: Try submitting just one edit and wait for it to be approved before doing the rest.

Add solid evidence: Always include a clear photo or 360-degree view if possible to prove the edit is accurate.

I didn’t understand what you meant by clicking the location. What will happen if I click on the location?

Sorry but how am I supposed to wait for the edit to be approved if the edit is declined within minutes?

I mean you can go to “edits” list then click on the place you were trying to edit or add on the maps, you may find it visible on the maps.

I hope I clarified that clearly.

I’ve been facing the same issue for the past two months. None of my edits have been approved, and now I’m no longer able to edit effectively. Even when I submit an edit, it gets rejected almost immediately.
