When it comes to naming points of interest on Google Maps. Google recommends that the name on the signpost should be used. However, we have seen situations on the map where the alias or sobriquet of the POI is used instead of the main name. For example, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is a popular POI in Nigeria and other parts of the world but each branch has a sobriquet by which it is known eg “Spring of Life’’ ‘’Palace of Praise’’ etc. Sometimes these branches are created using these alias Spring of Life omitting the root name RCCG. There are situations also where Points of Destinations are created twice using the root name and again the sobriquet. A good example in Abakaliki Nigeria is Living Faith Church also created as Winners Chapel. Using abbreviations is still another aberration that can led to confusion. NSE in Nigeria could mean Nigerian Stock Exchange or Nigerian Society of Engineers this makes it inappropriate to create any of these locations with abbreviation or acronym “NSE”. The virtual meeting will provide platform to correct common errors thus far observed in addition to editing location addresses taking cognizance of closed and relocated organizations or businesses. Fun Game: What is the sobriquet your current State or Province of residence is known for: Ebonyi State in Nigeria is also known as “salt of the nation” owing to salt deposits in the area
