EDITING: Generic to Specific 1

Editing in one of the eleven principal activities through which Local Guides contributes to the Google map just like photos, review etc. The Covid 19 lock down and the subsequent social distancing no doubt restricts our ability to contribute like the pre Covid 19 era. However, this challenging times offers us the opportunity to scan through the map for Points of Interest within our domain previously created with one error or the other with a view to correcting them using the “suggest edit” option, so as to improve the accuracy of the information provided on the map. The virtual meeting will offer Local Guides within Nigeria and beyond the opportunity to go through the process of editing on the Google maps using some identified POIs with one error or the other, reiterate the expectations of Google as it relates to making the information we provide as specific as possible and avoid using generic classifications. Whereas editing affects Names, Addresses, Categories, Marker, Phone Numbers, Hours, Websites etc. This meeting will be executed in three series to enable us to make detailed contributions. The first meeting will be centered on making specific categorization. For example instead of Place of Worship, why not used Church. Bank is more specific than Financial Institution. FUN GAME: three local guides will sing a specific song that keeps them going in difficult times like this Covid 19 era starting with the host.
