Edit Reviews

Does anyone intentionally update their reviews to keep them very recent

Example there are some of reviews 8 years old or do you just leave it and update uploading photo instead of reviewing

Or you both upload photo and update review

When I first started I must admit my reviews could of been so much helpful and only a couple of lines I would write down.

Mine has improved over time

I just add a new photo as I only reviewed about 734 places and added photos to almost 14850 places.

But keeping reviews fresh is definitely helpful to Maps users.

Do you then revrite the entire text or just add a few more words? If adding new words it might be best to include when the original text was written.

Please, avoid using Google logos in your image as explained here.

@MortenCopenhagen

I have never seen an updated review on any reviews I come across.

I have edited a few of my reviews and left the new updated date.

Thank you for the logo reminder totally forgot :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hello @DshottDennis,

I changed the category of your topic to “Google tips & tricks” and added the “Reviews” tag to better represent what you’ve shared. Make sure to add tags that best describe what you are sharing. For more information, please read this topic: What are Connect tags and how to use them?

Additionally, please change your image as @MortenCopenhagen already suggested because Local Guides should not use any official Google branding.

I most definitely do.

Not EVERY visit if I frequent a location but once in a while.

Adding an “update” section or paragraph at the bottom and new media.

If I don’t intend to update the review’s write-up, I will simply upload fresh media.

No. Absolutely scared to touch them, for fear they may go hidden. I recently had a prompt in my notification list, suggesting I update an old Review for an additional 5 points. I ignored the invitation.

But I most definitely upload new photos when I see a change in decor or signage of a place. Tonight, I drove past a fast-food restaurant near home and noticed they upgraded their sign with a new logo and different font. Looks like the start of rebranding their old locations to match that of their newest branch, so I have some work to do now on all those store front photos.

If something changed, I do edit my review and add photos most of the times after re-visiting.

Hin und wieder @DshottDennis wenn etwas aktualisiert werden muss und ich schreibe dann als neuer Beginn, also nicht am Ende der Rezension.

@abermans ahh good it’s similar of what I tend to do most .

I just get surprised when I see my 8 year old review and also no one likes it :grin:.So I tend to leave it..if someone likes it I’m more than likely update it

thanks for your insight :grinning_face:

@tony_b

I never thought of the review might go in to hiding if edit them and I haven’t had any notifications of receiving 5pts if I update my review .. that might tempt me :grin:

Yeah I’m like you if different signs slogans or under new management signs etc I update my images

Thanks for your insight all the best on your journey

@WilfriedB Is there certain places you prefer to review or every place Park cafe business services you visit .. would you leave a review😀

Thank you for your insight

Thank you for asking @DshottDennis.

I don’t write many reviews, only when I really know something to say - many times. I don’t know what to write. :pensive_face: So it just depends on the place, but mainly restaurants and hotels. However, one of the most recent was a car workshop, but as I said, this happens, if know something to say.

I think Google wasn’t promoting “likes” so much, 8 years ago. Now that it is the more popular thing to do, I get likes for my newer contributions, and occassionally a very old one might get it as well.

Various posts have been written about hidden reviews and hidden photos, so I’m a bit nervous there.

I’m just like you @WilfriedB so I don’t review often. I’ve never stayed at a hotel, and restaurants are not a regular part of my lifestyle, and those are perhaps the two most review worthy types of business. For other places it doesn’t always feel natural.

@Annaelisa yeah I think I will just write a new one .

What I noticed now on the reviews it automatically updated the date you edited so you can see it very clearly and don’t have to fiddle around with updating .. just start a new one like what you do :grinning_face:
