Eat like a Local

I love traveling. I think going to a new place is one of the most wonderful experiences. I feel thrilled to plan a trip, pack my bags and go. I don’t mind if I have to travel for 40 hours just to get to my destination. Once there, I divide my itinerary into local and touristy stuffs. I go to the famous places like the Parthenon in Nashville (TN) but I also go to the small food places like the Cafe Monells or M.L.Rose which are frequented by the locals. I think that food especially should be enjoyed like a local because it is an important part of any city’s culture. So, instead of grabbing Chinese from a chain restaurant, I go to China Town or other local Chinese restaurants where I can get authentic Chinese food. I am passionate about finding and promoting local food places. These places are usually not super expensive but they do come with a unique character of their own. I have a travel and food blog called **Life Without Alu? **and I share my food and travel experiences there as well. I try to learn local foods and then improvise the recipe for my blog.

I love sharing my reviews on local food places on Google Maps because I want everyone to experience things like a local. There are many small food places which are well known to the locals but not to the tourists. By adding them on Google Maps and reviewing them, they immediately come into focus. You know what I like best? People actually view and take advantage of my reviews! I mean, this is amazing! I never thought that I would be helping so many people or even local business owners by just submitting a review.

Thank you Google for making knowledge sharing so easy

Hello @Debjani_Moitra and welcome to Connect!

Thank you for sharing your first post! Since you’re new to the community, you might want to share a bit more about yourself and get to know others in our monthly Introduce Yourself - June 2019. You can also take a look at these 14 helpful tips for using Connect, and What are Connect topics?

I’m going to move your post to the Local Stories section on Connect where the Local Guides from all around the world share their local stories and inspiration why they like to be Local Guides and how they contribute to Google Maps.

Wonderful! Thank you!

I’ve looked and couldn’t find a facebook group for KC LGs, so I just started a page. If you’re interested, feel free to join, and to share with any other LGs in KC you might know! Trying to find a way to make creating meet-ups a little easier. I have never hosted one, but I’ve talked with a couple of other LGs from KC about doing them.
