Hey Local Guides,
After having dinner at a restaurant today, I went to leave a Review and noticed that its location was shown quite far from where it actually is.
When I tapped on “Suggest an update” to fix the location, I was greeted by Google Maps’ new chat-based AI assistant interface. Using this feature was extremely smooth and easy! It guided me step-by-step, allowing me to pinpoint the exact location on the map and submit the update in no time.
To my delight, the updated information was approved and published just a few moments later. During the process, I tried adding a photo as well, but the assistant suggested sticking to updating the information instead. Overall, it was a great and time-saving experience.
Have you tried this new conversational update feature on Google Maps yet? I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments!
Happy Guiding

Keren , terima kasih banyak ya sudah berbagi pengalaman ini @KhokonSharker , sehat sukses selalu
This new feature is really good @KhokonSharker I’m yet to see it on my device though. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing this useful update, @KhokonSharker.
I haven’t tested the conversational assistant for pin edits yet, but seeing your smooth experience and quick approval makes me excited to try it out.
It’s very interesting! Thank you for sharing this update @KhokonSharker!
Thanks for the update, @KhokonSharker. However, this AI assistant feature currently seems to support only English (or perhaps a few other languages). It actually makes the process very time-consuming when reporting multiple locations with various details in a short span, yet there is still a risk of rejection for Local Guides who report map issues in large volumes—I, for instance, am facing immediate and repeated rejections.
@ngocvuphanthiet, this feature is new, but I think we can make it easier to use.
Moreover, I gave instructions here in Bengali as well as English, and it worked properly.
I think this is suitable for lower-level Local Guides (who visit and verify details firsthand) or Google Maps users looking to correct information for a specific location. While the process is interesting, it can be disheartening when a report ends up “pending for a long time” or gets rejected—especially after the extra effort of typing out a reason for the edit, even though there are already multiple selection options available.
I tested the Talk to Edit feature in Dublin during the Connect Live event in May. I was sincerely impressed. I tried to trick it by requesting a complicated edit of the opening hours limited to certain days of the week. It worked wonders, and it was a lot faster than manually punching in the new data. And we get to visually check the edits before hitting submit. I can wait for it to arrive in Maps.
