To understand more about the activities we do during the Spring season, please read my post regarding Spring in the Mitten State and also Spring Planting
I know I am behind with my posts and the season will not wait for me. This time I would like to introduce you to one of many of our annual routine activities to welcome Spring in Michigan, Flower Day in Eastern Market, and Eastern Market in general. After 2 years closed to the public due to Covid, they finally open this year and as expected they are many people.
Flower Day
Flower Day indicates a springtime in Michigan it is a tradition to celebrate the season with thousands of varieties of plants annual and perennial flowers and trees, flowering bushes, perennial blossoms, and bulbs. The day after Mother’s Day will draw thousands of people annually. Not just because flowers for women but for men and children as well. Guests are from surrounding Detroit areas or even from all over the world. If I ever have visitors from another county I definitely will take them to Eastern Market.

What is Eastern Market?
Eastern Market is a traditional market where we have to deal directly with a person who sells the products, not like a supermarket where all the products are located in one place or building and you have to deal with the cashier for the payment process.
This place has 6 sheds spread out over 4½ acres with multiple city blocks near downtown Detroit - It is the destination in the heart of the city with fresh food, restaurants, businesses, art, and culture - Some kinds of a landmark of Detroit or one of the places you have to visit while in Detroit - It is only open Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday - A non-profit organization that is managed by certain people to increase Metro Detroit’s food sector - A place where you can buy locally grown produce, flowers, baked goods, fresh bread, organic honey, egg, meats, fish, cheese, some unique vegetables where they are not available in the supermarket - Antique Stores, Peanuts stores, All kind of spices stores, you name it they have it - Bring your own buggy if you would like to shop - Over 225 market vendors with average up to 40,000 visitors in one day.
